Welcome the new bean!
If you haven't heard by now, the Bean has arrived. Our newest
family member, Katherine Frances was born March 15, 2007 at 8:45am. She weighed
7lbs 9oz, and was 18 inches long. Little Katie makes frequent appearances at The
Dog. She hopes to meet you the next time you stop by!
We would also like to apologize for the lengthy lapse in the delivery of our
newsletters. The weeks leading up to and after the arrival of the baby were a
little hectic and we fell very behind. We're back, now, and are glad you're
still reading!

New Store Hours
Effective May 5, 2007 our new Saturday hours will be 9am to 5pm.

purchase by 25%. You can also visit any of these four downtown businesses to
pick up a Zaxby's punch card and earn your way toward a free meal.

The Book Worm Bookstore's Book Club
The First Tuesday of the Month
The Book Worm Bookstore holds book
club meetings monthly. The meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month
at 7pm in the cafe area. If you would like to join us, please feel free to call
The Book Worm at (770) 439-2029 or simply show up! The next meeting is May 1st,
2007. We will be discussing "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte. The selection
for the June meeting is "Alas, Babylon" by Pat Frank.

Sidewalk Sale
Located on Marietta Street in Historic Powder

will be having a Sidewalk Sale this Saturday, May 5th from 10am - 5pm. Come
check out the great deals! Barking Dog Coffee will be offering $3.00 fruit
smoothies all day during the event. Come try a "Daytona Peach" or perhaps a
"Macho, Macho Mango" smoothie - or any other that tempts you from our menu. We
must warn you, though... our smoothies are habit forming!

Movie Nights
Third Saturday of Each Month Now Through
October
We kicked off this season's movie
nights with "Shrek" on Saturday, April 21. There was a good showing and everyone
had a great time. Whistling Pig Catering provided concessions such as barbeque
pork, hot wings, burgers and corndogs just to name a few. Barking Dog Coffee
also stays open on movie nights so your favorite drinks are available. The movie
is shown at sundown in the City Parking Lot next to The Book Worm Book Store.
Next month on Saturday, May 19th, we will be airing "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
Bring your lawn chairs or blanket and come early to get a good spot. We are
asking those who attend to park on the square as the City Parking Lot will be
closed for the movie.

Country Gathering
Arts, Crafts, Antiques, Demonstrations,
Kids Area and more!
The Country Gathering is back! The
Historic Downtown Merchants Association of Powder Springs and the City of Powder
Springs have teamed up to host the festival June 2nd & 3rd. The City is helping
to make the 7th annual Country Gathering the biggest and best ever. There will
be a blacksmith in attendance, as well as basket weavers, arts & craft vendors,
antiques, a kids area complete with moonwalks and a petting zoo, yummy food, and
lots more. Vendors and patrons will travel from miles around to participate in
the Country Gathering. Marietta Street will be closed for the event as vendors
will set up their booths to display their wares. We hope that you will come and
be a part of the festivities.
There are a limited number of booth spaces still available if you or anyone you
know would like to participate. We are seeking antique dealers, artists and
artisans, crafters, local businesses, and activities for the kids area. We are
